Why I teach the way I do.

Mathematics has always been my strongest subject and my favourite one. I sat A-Levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Chemistry, achieving A* in all three, alongside an A in AS Biology, and I taught myself the entire Further Mathematics course independently.

That experience shapes how I teach. Learning a full A-Level from scratch, without a class to follow, forces you to be honest about what you actually understand. It also proves something worth repeating to every student who believes they are simply not a maths person: the subject rewards structure and persistence far more than it rewards natural talent.

I went on to study Economics and Mathematics at the University of Leeds, graduating with First Class Honours, and I am now studying for an MSc in Artificial Intelligence (Mathematics and Computer Science) at Imperial College London.

Over the past five years I have taught more than 250 hours through MyTutor and around 120 hours privately, across KS3, GCSE, A-Level and Further Mathematics. I also completed a teaching internship with the BCTSA at Arden Academy in Solihull, co-teaching Year 7 and Year 10 mathematics classes and writing lesson plans, presentations and worksheets.

Maths is for everyone. It is a matter of confidence and interest in the subject, and both can be built.

Before lessons begin

We begin with where the student actually is: current level, strengths, weak areas and target grade. That becomes a long-term plan, not a run of unconnected sessions.

We work through the plan at the agreed pace, every concept explained in full. Staying ahead of school means students meet content in class for the second time, not the first.

After each topic

Every topic is followed by homework, from straightforward problems to the hardest exam questions. Where the answers show a gap, we go back to it before moving on.

After each block

After a block of topics, a longer paper sat at home under supervision. It combines areas deliberately, so students must recognise which method each question needs.

Lessons run online at a regular weekly time, typically one hour. Online delivery keeps the timetable flexible and means the whole lesson is spent teaching rather than travelling.
The lesson itself, the homework set afterwards, the marking of that homework, and the longer test papers used at the end of each block of topics. There are no additional charges.
Yes, to full A-Level. I taught myself the entire Further Mathematics course independently and achieved A*, covering Statistics and Discrete as my options. That means I know precisely which parts of the course are hardest to learn without support.
We do not move on. The homework after each topic is designed to expose exactly this. Where the answers show a gap, we spend additional lesson time on it and I set further questions until the student is comfortable.
Homework after every topic gives an immediate reading on whether the material is secure. After a longer block of topics, the student sits a larger test at home under parental supervision, combining several areas.
All the main boards at GCSE and A-Level. Tell me the board when you enquire and the lesson plan is built around that specification.
Because it is the single change that does most for confidence. A student who has already covered a topic walks into that lesson at school with a foundation to build on rather than a gap to close.
